Support for the Coalition has jumped with the latest Newspoll predicting a landslide victory for the opposition. Coalition primary support is up to 50 per cent, with the poll putting the opposition ahead 58 points to 42. Read more.
Hostage overwhelmed after release
An Australian man who was held hostage in the Southern Philippines has spoken publicly for the first time since his release. Warren Rodwell was flown to Manila yesterday afternoon, not ready to answer questions but thanking the Australian government and Philippine police for their work. ABC News has more.

Delays in treatment for injured soldiers
A parliamentary inquiry has been told there are many gaps in the level of care provided for injured members of the Defence Force. One solider has been fighting for entitlements for four years. Read more.
Donors needed
Thousands of blood donors are needed to boost supplies for cancer patients, especially over the Easter period. The Australian Red Cross Blood Service needs an extra 8000 donors between March 30 and April 5. Sky News has more.

US girl walks away from crash to get help
A nine-year-old girl has walked away from a car crash, climbed up a canyon and walked for more than a kilometre to get help. The car swerved and fell about 60 metres down a canyon, killing the girl’s father. Seven News has the details.
Knox may face trial again
Amanda Knox is waiting to hear if she will face trial again as Italy’s top criminal court considers whether to overturn her acquittal. Knox and her Italian boyfriend were found not guilty of murdering her roommate in Italy. Read more.
