group were inspired to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation after they met a woman who lost her child due to a terminal illness and how the foundation helped her through that process. Once the group found out about the work that the foundation does to research illness and help families, “it was a no-brainer” to get involved with the organisation, says Jared.</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>Meanwhile, the Ten Tenors are set to tour around Australia this year. The tour, called</span><span> The Power of Ten</span><span>, will kick off in February in Perth.</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>“We savour every opportunity that we get to get together. We’re on a six-week tour through the US right now and we’re looking forward to getting home to Australia and debuting the new show. It’s something we’ve been working on for a couple of years and it’s finally coming to fruition,” he says.</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>“We’re going back to our roots and bringing back big tenorial songs and that big high male sound to Australia for the first time in the show.”</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>The Ten Tenors is often described as one of the first group of artists to enter the classical cross-over field, when it first began almost 20 years ago and according to Jared, it’s important that classical music moves with the times in order to survive. </span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>“I think in some regards, crossover has legitimised both art forms for a greater audience, because we often get classical fans who come to our show a little bit suspicious about what we do, but then end up standing up when we’re rocking a Meatloaf number,” he explains. The reverse is true, too. Sometimes people come to see us doing Queen and Meatloaf and are surprised that they know a lot of our classical material.”</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>“I think you have to stay current and find a new audience or eventually you won’t have one. Fashion and music changes, and so I think making any art for the current [period of time] is important. Our new show will have a few surprises in store for people. The Ten Tenors tour Australia

There’s nothing quite like the beauty of traditional Christmas carols during this time of the year and the Ten Tenors have just released their new album, Our Christmas Wish, the proceeds of which will go to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Apart from everyone’s favourite carols, the album will also feature the group’s own spin on Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas.
According to member Jared Newall, the group were inspired to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation after they met a woman who lost her child due to a terminal illness and how the foundation helped her through that process. Once the group found out about the work that the foundation does to research illness and help families, “it was a no-brainer” to get involved with the organisation, says Jared.
Meanwhile, the Ten Tenors are set to tour around Australia this year. The tour, called The Power of Ten, will kick off in February in Perth.
“We savour every opportunity that we get to get together. We’re on a six-week tour through the US right now and we’re looking forward to getting home to Australia and debuting the new show. It’s something we’ve been working on for a couple of years and it’s finally coming to fruition,” he says.
“We’re going back to our roots and bringing back big tenorial songs and that big high male sound to Australia for the first time in the show.”
The Ten Tenors is often described as one of the first group of artists to enter the classical cross-over field, when it first began almost 20 years ago and according to Jared, it’s important that classical music moves with the times in order to survive.
“I think in some regards, crossover has legitimised both art forms for a greater audience, because we often get classical fans who come to our show a little bit suspicious about what we do, but then end up standing up when we’re rocking a Meatloaf number,” he explains. The reverse is true, too. Sometimes people come to see us doing Queen and Meatloaf and are surprised that they know a lot of our classical material.”
“I think you have to stay current and find a new audience or eventually you won’t have one. Fashion and music changes, and so I think making any art for the current [period of time] is important. Our new show will have a few surprises in store for people. There is some new material that has been interpreted in a classical and tenorial way that will be so exciting and really interesting.”
