Bundaberg residents displaced
A new accommodation village is being built at the Bundaberg showgrounds for residents displaced by the floods. While many have vowed to stay in the city to rebuild, some are leaving altogether rather than risk another flood. Read more.
Cruise member found dead
A cruise crew member has been found dead aboard the Seven Seas Voyager. Police found the 24-year-old woman’s body in her cabin and have established a crime scene. Details remain vague, however the ship remains docked in Darwin Harbour. NT news has guaranteed to update the site as details emerge.
Calls to keep non-violent Indigenous criminals out of jail
A report compiled for the Australian National Council on Drugs suggests that Indigenous people convicted of non-violent crimes should be kept out of jail and sent to treatment programs. Read more.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s new front bench will be sworn in at Government House in Canberra this morning after resignations forced a reshuffle over the weekend. The ABC has the full story.
Malala in recovery
Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl shot in the head by the Taliban for campaigning for girls’ education, is recovering from surgery on her skull. British doctors performed the successful operation on Saturday, inserting a titanium plate into her skull and an electronic device into her ear. Yahoo News has more.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali cannot speak and no longer recognises his family members, with his brother warning he could be dead within days. Read more.
Cops taser man outside Buckingham Palace
Scotland Yard say they used a stun gun on a man armed with two knives outside Buckingham Palace. The man did not threaten people but when approached by police, he acted aggressively. He was arrested at the scene. Ninemsn has the full story.
