Farewell to Daniel Morcombe
Thousands of people are set to farewell teenager Daniel Morcombe in Queensland today, nine years after his disappearance. The Morcombe family has asked everyone attending to wear red. A committal hearing for the accused will continue in February. Read more on ABC.
Tragedy strikes after a neighbourhood row
A senior police officer has been killed in a brutal attack after responding to a neighbourhood row. Neighbours had been complained about cross-bow arrows firing into their yard. Eleven police attended the scene yet were forced to take refuge as they fought off abuse. When Detective Inspector Bryson Anderson became separated from the group, he was tragically killed after a scuffle. Mother and son have been arrested. The Sydney Morning Herald has the full story.
South Australia: fattest state
