Adelaide – the world’s hottest city
According to a global forecast by the UN, Adelaide will be the world’s hottest city today with temperatures reaching up to 46 degrees Celsius. Melbourne and Canberra are expected to reach 44 and 40 degrees Celsius respectively. Adelaide’s temperature did not fall below 30 degrees Celsius overnight, dropping to its lowest of 30.8 at 6am this morning. Read the full story on News.com.au
Train services resume in Sydney
Train services have resumed on the Eastern Suburbs line in Sydney after a train derailed during peak hour last night. A metal bar speared through the train floor just outside Edgecliff station, forcing the evacuation of more than 700 passengers and closing the line until 4:30 this morning. Nine News has more.
Tourist claims he felt ill at Bali restaurant
An Australian tourist has claimed he felt ill after eating at the Bali restaurant where Noelene Bischoff and her daughter Yvana ate before their mystery deaths. The Victorian man came forward after returning to Australia. The Bischoff family is now seeking more information about the possibility of food poisoning. Read more.
Egyptian pharaoh’s body found
An Egyptian pharaoh, believed to have ruled 3700 years ago, has been uncovered by US archaeologists. The discovery by a team from the University of Pennsylvania provides new evidence in how Egypt was ruled. A skeleton was recovered as well as vases but no grave goods, suggesting the tomb was robbed in ancient times. Nine News has the full story.
Sigmund Freud’s ashes targeted
