Kevin Rudd’s new asylum seeker policy has come under fire and a 6.5 magnitude earthquake has hit the New Zealand city of Wellington on Sunday, with residents likely to feel aftershocks for weeks to come.
New asylum seeker policy
With over 3000 asylum seekers that arrive in Australia each month now being sent to Papua New Guinea, the Rudd Government is under pressure to bring PNG detention facilities up to United Nation standards for health and education provisions in order to accommodate the detainees. SMH.com.au has more.

Wellington earthquake
A 6.5 earthquake hit Wellington, New Zealand on Friday with potential aftershocks to follow for weeks. Up to 120 aftershocks have been recorded since the quake on Sunday afternoon. Four people we injured in the tremor although there were no serious injuries reported. News.com.au has more.
Visa fraud revealed
An Immigration Department audit has revealed Indian students and workers have defrauded the system on a huge scale.
Thousands of Indian students, skilled workers and 457 visa holders have used dodgy travel and work documents to obtain entry into Australia. The audit has revealed fraud rates reaching nearly 50 per cent. ABC news has all the details.
11-year-old girl flees marriage
An 11-year-old Yemeni girl has spoken out over fleeing her family and a forced marriage. A video leaked on LiveLeak has revealed that 11-year-old Nada Al-Ahdal has fled with her uncle after she was promised to another man.
