years of angst while raising kids,</p> <p>To them I now truly dips me lids.</p> <p>A caravan is offered, storage space too.</p> <p>Must remember to give them an IOU.</p> <p>I shed some tears, but not for what’s lost,</p> <p>It’s the care folks deliver that costs the most</p> <p>Loving friends and family – we’re truly blessed,</p> <p>Thanks guys and girls – you’re simply the best!</p> <p>What can Sometimes it takes a tragedy for us to really appreciate our wonderful friends, writes Dot Francis from the Brunswick Valley Probus Club.
’Twas somewhere ‘round about Gundagai,
Where news of the flood reached hubby and I.
At dawn the next day, home we sped,
To find on arrival, not even a bed.
My mind’s in a whirl, devastation’s complete,
Why, I can’t even find cover for feet.
Hubby’s reaction was utter shock,
And even more so when he’d time to take stock.
My best friend said, ‘Come stay with me.
I’ll make you something nice for tea.’
Friends and rellies came from far and wide
I know they’re batting on our side.
They toiled day and night, outside and in;
The sleep department’s pretty thin.
They bring supplies, I offer to pay.
The answer comes back, an emphatic, ‘No way!’
The Salvos too, were a wonderful crew,
Giving vouchers, money and bedding too.
Though years of angst while raising kids,
To them I now truly dips me lids.
A caravan is offered, storage space too.
Must remember to give them an IOU.
I shed some tears, but not for what’s lost,
It’s the care folks deliver that costs the most
Loving friends and family – we’re truly blessed,
Thanks guys and girls – you’re simply the best!
What can we say, what can we do,
But utter a sincere and heartfelt ‘thank you!’
