Canadian authorities prevent bombing
Canadian authorities have arrested and charged two people with attempting to carry out a terrorist attack backed by Al Qaeda. Chiheb Esseghaier, 30, of Montreal and Raed Jaser, 35, of Toronto were planning to blow up a passenger train, reportedly travelling between New York and Toronto. Read more.
Boston suspect charged
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and may face the death penalty. He has also been charged with malicious destruction of property by means of deadly explosives. Tsarnaev remains in a serious condition in hospital. ABC News has the full story.

Murder-suicide in Sydney jail revealed
Details about the deaths of prisoners Nick Michael Karayiannis, 41, and his cellmate Tien Tran, 47, have raised serious questions about the actions of prison staff. Guards at Sydney’s Silverwater Jail found their bodies during a headcount on Easter Monday, with Karayiannis tied to two beds and Tran hanged. Read more.
Sex offenders on the run
Two sex offenders are on the run again in Queensland after escaping Townsville Correction Centre last night. The men, who had been released into the community, still require supervision and are required to live at the Centre. Ninemsn has more.
Delta digs deep
Delta Airlines has located a shirt lost by a young boy who had carried it with him since his father died two years ago. Friends and family have been astounded by how far the airline has gone to find the lost property, with a letter written by the boy’s mother saying the staff went “above and beyond”.
